WHO IS DISSEMINATING FALSE INFORMATION?
Today four opposition Members of Parliament including Sam Rainsy sent a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen, through National Assembly President Heng Samrin http://tinyurl.com/2bf9esq, asking the Government the following question:
Based on their well-publicized November 16, 2009 letter to King-Father Norodom Sihanouk http://tinyurl.com/2uozunz, haven’t Senate President Chea Sim, National Assembly President Heng Samrin and Prime Minister Hun Sen disseminated false information by saying that “up to now not a single Cambodian farmer has lost his/her rice field [in the border demarcation process with Vietnam]”?
The letter/question referred to the two Cambodian farmers from Svay Rieng province, Ms Meas Srey and Mr Prum Chea who were arrested in December 2009 and released from jail only on October 14, 2010 because they protested -- and are still protesting -- against the loss of their rice fields because of the ongoing unfair border demarcation process with Vietnam.
Aren’t the two above-mentioned farmers living evidence that the country’s top three leaders have disseminated false information?
On September 23, 2010 opposition leader Sam Rainsy was sentenced to ten years in jail precisely for “dessimination of false information” because he has revealed the fact that Cambodian farmers are effectively losing their lands due to the ongoing border demarcation process with Vietnam.
The two farmers/victims and Sam Rainsy will take part in a press conference at the SRP Phnom Penh headquarters tomorrow, October 16, at 11:00 am.
